Avon knows that great learning, just like great beauty advice, only works when it feels personal. With a global network of independent representatives and no obligation to complete training, engagement had to be earned rather than enforced.
To keep learning as relevant and appealing as possible, the team used clear, practical engagement data (the same insights behind Avon’s learning-focused social media tiles) to understand how people were interacting with the platform. By tracking patterns, Avon could spotlight what was landing well and promote learning in a way that felt natural. By mid-year, a clear line could be drawn between platform engagement and strong sales performance.

Making learning beautiful
Building on that success, Avon created a more immersive learning experience using Thrive’s full functionality. The learning was enriched with real-world context and best practice from Beauty Advisers who had tested what worked in practice, capturing their insights in short videos. This formed the foundation of the Beauty Adviser Expert Skincare Programme — a new approach to training, designed in Thrive and created in-house at zero cost.
This wasn’t your typical corporate course. It was colourful and confidence-building — full of content that made learning feel less like homework and more like a glow-up. The first cohort sold out (yes, really), completion rates hit 92%, and 93% of learners said it directly boosted their skincare sales. As one rep put it, “It’s given me the confidence to go live, host events, and truly believe in what I sell.”

Confidence that converts
The impact was glowing. Representatives who completed the Skincare Expert Programme saw their monthly skincare sales increase by 14%. Their total business sales rose by 9%, and participants outperformed top-tier sellers by an impressive 24% margin. Some even took the results to heart: one Beauty Adviser grew her business by nearly £10,000 in a single year.
Avon is now taking the same winning formula global, with new programmes for make-up and fragrance already live, rollouts under way in Poland, Turkey, and the Philippines, and further expansion planned for 2026. What began as a local experiment in engagement has evolved into a worldwide transformation — clear proof that when learning looks good, business thrives.
