Overview
Video content previously sat inside the same flat list layout as every other content type. This update gives video-only homepage lists on the mobile app and desktop a dedicated, swipeable carousel format familiar from popular short-form video apps.
What's new
- Homepage list blocks containing only video now render as a swipeable carousel automatically
- Tapping a video launches it full-screen in portrait mode
- Users can swipe vertically to move to the next video in the list
Why / benefits
- Makes video content instantly recognisable and more eye-catching on the homepage
- Gives users a familiar, immersive way to consume content, increasing time spent engaging with video
- Encourages more video content investment by giving it a dedicated, polished showcase
How it works
- Thrive automatically detects when every item in a homepage list block is video content
- If all items are video, the block renders as a carousel instead of a standard list
- Adding even one non-video item reverts the block to a standard carousel
Use cases
- A culture and social content feed made entirely of short video clips displays as an immersive, swipeable carousel on the homepage.
- A series of quick tip or micro-learning videos gets a dedicated, binge-friendly showcase.
People/personas
- L&D leaders and content creators see far more visibility and engagement for video content
- Employees get a faster, more enjoyable way to consume short video content on the go
