Global learning and communication challenges
Before DECIEM's learning culture was heavily focused on face-to-face training, with no scalable employee onboarding across 15+ countries. This had its challenges, including no way to refer back to learning content once the classroom session had finished, leaving employees unable to learn in the flow of work. Product knowledge training was particularly difficult to deliver consistently to retail, production and office workers globally.
Nearly all of DECIEM's online training and communication was historically delivered via email, which caused a lack of engagement across the workforce. A staff survey highlighted that 78% of employees felt they didn't know what was going on in the wider business, and 42% felt they didn't have a voice. 98% of employees wanted to learn more, but only 48% felt they knew how to develop their skills.

Thrive ticked all the boxes
With a workforce spanning retail, production and office workers across 15+ countries, DECIEM recognised the need for a tech-led learning approach to drive global inclusivity. A social and collaborative platform was the answer, and DECIEM teamed up with Thrive to build a strategy bringing a self-directed, co-constructed culture of learning and engagement to life. Structured pathways provided role-specific development, campaigns kept global teams aligned on product launches, and mobile-first access reached retail staff on the shop floor in every country.

Self-led learning with 95% engagement
With 95% active users spending an average of 83 minutes per week on optional learning, DECIEM's "learners as teachers" approach has been so successful that the platform is now made up of 53% user-generated content, with only 23% coming directly from the L&D team. Social learning features built a community of knowledge sharers, while analytics gave the team sight of engagement across every market.
Thrive has helped bring the values at the company's core to life, creating one central place for people to learn about products, meet the leadership team, connect with internal experts, and develop the skills that matter to them. A second sentiment survey revealed a significant increase in employee satisfaction and attitude towards learning and communication.

"We chose Thrive over a traditional LMS as we were looking for something that was innovative, collaborative and fun."
