Overview

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) tracks structured and self-directed learning outside standard courses. It matters most in financial services, healthcare and legal, where logging CPD hours is often a compliance requirement.

Until now, CPD data lived in Thrive but stayed invisible in reporting. L&D teams had an incomplete view of what their people were actually doing. This release closes that gap, showing CPD completed on Thrive alongside CPD logged elsewhere in one place.

What's new

Thrive is rolling out a suite of CPD reporting capabilities in stages:

  • CPD activity now appears in real time in the Insights dashboard.
  • Completion rates per user show who's on track and who's falling behind.
  • CPD completed on Thrive is split from CPD logged elsewhere.
  • Categories break down by on- and off-platform activity.
  • CPD data is now available in Data Share, so it can be queried and joined to other learning outcomes.

Why / benefits

L&D and People teams have always known CPD matters, but without data they couldn't act on it. This closes the loop:

  • A complete picture of workforce development, CPD sitting alongside every other learning metric.
  • Spot who needs support before a compliance gap becomes an audit finding.
  • Prove CPD is happening on the platform, not just around it.
  • See where learners go off-platform, so you know what to bring in-house next.

How it works

  • CPD records sync into the Insights dashboard automatically, no manual steps needed.
  • New views in the Leadership dashboard show completion percentage by user.
  • A dedicated split shows CPD done on Thrive versus elsewhere, per user.
  • Customers with Data Share can query CPD tables directly and join them to other data.

Use cases

  • An L&D Manager at a financial services firm sees who's completed annual CPD, and chases the rest before an audit.
  • A Head of Learning spots a mandatory CPD category running low on hours and triggers a comms push.
  • A People Ops team joins CPD data to performance reviews through Data Share.
  • A Learning Manager finds 60% of CPD happens off-platform, and uses that to prioritise new content.

People/personas

This lands hardest with customers in regulated industries, but has broad appeal across enterprise customers.

  • L&D Leaders, primary beneficiaries, can finally report on CPD alongside everything else.
  • HR and People Leaders connect CPD to wider talent and performance conversations.
  • Compliance and Legal teams get CPD audit trails without manual data pulls.
  • Customers with Data Share build custom CPD reporting or join it to HR systems.
